East A zarbayijan Landmarks                                     Zahhak castle

 Zahhak castle is located in East Azarbaijan province iran .it is named after Zahhak a figure in Persian mythology .This is the only important that has survived from the Parthian period .Acocording to various experts .it was inhab ited from the second millennia BC until the Timurid  era .it was first excavated in the 1800s archeologists . Moreover ,Iran,s cultural Hertiage Organization has been studying the structure in 6phases .

 The Castle is lying beside Tehran-Tabriz railway ,several kilom-eters east of Khorassanak railway station .The foundation of the building  .is laid at craggy precipice from a layer of broker and plaster of lime and ashes .The whol building is constructed of baked on each other from length .

 From every side Zahhak Castile is surrounded by mouvtains and long plains bedecked with wild red anemones .At a dis- tance one can see the railway and the railway station .At the depth of the valley like a snake a twisting river comes from west ,makes acircle and follows the railway towards east...At if the mountain anderneath is like a giant statue of Zahak and the two banks of the river are the dreadful snakes from the monsters shoulders .
